Toronto's Bryan Espiritu has been grinding hard for his own company called "Ideall". Being linked to those at Livestock, I believe he has been given a lot of good influence. When introducing his brand I remember him making a thread in the upcoming brands Hypebeast, where everyone gave him a lot of love. Now he has delivered to the public a trailer. This is really what the idea of the post is about, I love the simplicity of the trailer. We have conversed about how look books and trailers are great ways of showing the consumer of what you have to offer. I just wish I had come up with an idea such as this, this is inspiration for the future.

Skating
Dallas and I have been talking about how snowboarding season is coming to an end, but not to worry because the streets should be clear soon. With the sun out drying up a lot of snow, all we have to do is brush rocks off of little paved areas. My driveway is already snow and pebble free! In the meantime, we try and skate the Center Mall underground parking every now and then. We get sessions lasting from five to 45 minutes, but it's worth it just to get some board feel and hang out with friends.
I am sure everyone is anticipating summer, being school free and enjoying nice weather.

It's scary that deer sometimes run wild in my neighborhood (this was just outside of the city though).

Drew Tofin Band
This past Friday, I attended the Drew Tofin Band at the Bassment. I have known Drew since elementary school and he had always shown interest in being a musician. I remember his family's large collection of instruments and his older brothers playing as I was much younger. Hearing him play as other genres, jazz music was a nice change. They performed a great show, soulful vocals and excellent solos from the musicians. As well as there were laughs being shared by everyone, Drew brought out his comedic personality.
It was also my first time being at the Bassment. It's located on 23rd and 4th downtown. It was a bit difficult to find, seeings that the entrance was at the side of a building with very little advertising. As you enter, there is a bar with reasonable priced beverages and food. As the pictures below show, the lighting was pretty dim with stage lights. It wasn't too big, but there was enough seating for all of the viewers, along with a dance floor being used by all ages. No matter how much you love music or what genre you prefer to listen to, everyone will enjoy and appreciate the performance.

Reigning Champ
Reigning Champ is a company based out of Vancouver, Canada. It is a house brand affiliated with Wings + Horns, underneath of CYC Design Corporation. CYC is in charge of the production of some Supreme and Alife goods just to name a few brands. Reigning Champ is well known for producing simple, minimal branding and high quality products. I personally like it because of the cuts and use of materials, whether it's a thin fleece for summer evenings or a polar tech sweater used for layering in the winter. I am proud to say that Momentum on 8th street is now carrying one of my favorite brands.

The Weeknd - House of Balloons (Download)
The Weeknd is a 20 year old — mystery — R&B act based out of Toronto, who has an impressive stranglehold over my attention with his soulful, explicit, and surprisingly lyrical content. The vocals are set atop a variety of ambient production alternating in style from track to track. The likes of Toronto’s Doc McKinney (responsible for Wicked Games and Coming Down) and Illangelo are sure collaborators on the production side of things. While my thoughts on the matter also extend to other producers.. it’s still unconfirmed and unclear. What is clear are The Weeknd’s family who make up XO (think OVO): La Mar, Hyghly Alleyne, Omari Shakir, Scott Hall, J. Wilson, and the aforementioned producers. Drake and October’s Very Own are the ones who have put the world up onto The Weeknd by cosigning all of his music. Garnering much deserved attention, The Weeknd released this mixtape last Sunday with no warning except a single tweet; truly solidifying the power of the internet.

Football
Here is a video that was made by Thai Military Bay or TMB. It introduces their new campaign called "Make the Difference", in hopes of having people see the light in any situation. These young group of boys located south of Thailand had no where to play because of the terrain and setup of the city. This video tells the story of how they managed to play football. It is a touching story and very inspirational.

JFK
The Just for Kicks tournament just ended for us today, we played in the co-ed fun league. We lost in the quarter finals, but the weekend was great. Playing with the "Chest Nuts" was a lot of fun, the people made it much better. I played with some of my closest friends and people I have never met.. The atmosphere was pretty good, other than the odd fight, over competitive teams and having to play keeper. We plan to play again next year, maybe change our name and hopefully find a full time keeper.
Thanks to my little sister and John MacDonald for taking photos for me.

Vans: LPE CA
Yesterday after my finance class I headed to Momentum to see what was happening over there. In my routine of always looking at the sneaker wall first, I found something instantly. I have been wanted a Vans Era or Authentic in a white canvas for summer and it's perfect because they received the LPE California edition. It has a white canvas upper that is ready to take a beating this summer along with a lower gum sole...combo. These probably won't see the light until May or June.

Just for Kicks
This weekend is the Just for Kicks tournament. After joining a team for the co-ed team for the Barnstone team a few months back, I agreed upon playing again. Myself and a few friends joined a co-ed team called the "Chest Nuts". The league shouldn't be too serious but I expect it to be fun. 20 teams are competing and are divided into five pools. The tournament will take place at the Saskatoon Kinsmen/Henk Ruys Soccer Center, the older soccer center located in the north end of the city. If you have some time you should come to watch a game, have some drinks and socialize.

Customer Service
Today as I was doing homework, I received some mail from Holt Renfrew. It was a letter in regards of a previous purchase. Basically a follow up to see how I was doing, not like those annoying phone calls from your telephone service company.
I appreciate things like this, simply yet thoughtful. At a family dinner the other night we were actually discussing brand loyalty and customer service. My brother and I have done a bit of online shopping in the past, sometimes to buy something not available to Saskatoon or sometimes to save a buck. But now that I know if I can get it in the city I will buy it from there if I am pleased with service or staff, without considering the price. For example my family has been loyal to Mazda probably for the past twenty years. We are dedicated to them because of the vehicles and the staff is great. The most important part of being part of sales is not only knowledge but the service.
This post didn't have much point but just ranting about something that had crossed my mind earlier.

UP
I found this video on Hypebeast, the idea that two men could bring Disney's "Up" to real life. Just like in the movie, their plan was to build a lightweight house to be flown safely by the use of party balloons.

Pacific & Wing World
Since Commerce students don't have classes Friday we were able to get a start to our weekend. A small group of us guys played some pool at the Pacific pool hall on 1st avenue where we played a seven round series, Asians vs Caucasians. My friend Jason took me out to Pacific a couple times last week during reading break. I have been enjoying it and decided to introduce the hobby to my friends.
After some pool we headed over to Central for a late snack at Wing World. I haven't been there in a while but I chose to go with the personal combo. The service was a bit disappointing, but the wings were definitely on point.
