I recently finished my second year of University and had planned to go to make a quick trip to Edmonton with my girlfriend and her mom to get away and relax for a bit. No set plans were made in advance but to just hang out, shop lots and eat lots.
I woke up at around 4:30 this morning to begin getting ready to leave for 5:00, which extended to 5:30 because of the royal wedding. When we got into the city, we began with shopping at the South Edmonton Common to do some outlet shopping. We made stops at places such as Gap, Banana Republic, Nike, Adidas and Bath and Body Works just to name a few stores we visited. We also stopped at an Italian Coffee shop in the area, where I enjoyed a Birra Moretti. After I ate my very first authentic East Indian meal, which I must say was a good experience. I was especially fond of the meal because of the amount of spices, rice (typical) and food available.
After dinner we had a quick stop at West Edmonton Mall where we were able to quickly find some graduation heels for the girlfriend and some snacks at the TnT Supermarket. Other than that, I'm here at the Mayfield just explaining my day and watching Sports Center. Great first day, tomorrow should be even more fun!

Just a Taste: Cold Stone Creamery
Cold Stone Creamery has made its way up to Saskatoon quite recently. It shares a location downtown with the new Tim Horton's allowing the location to remain open for 24 hours. Cold Stone Creamery serves all sorts of treats, ice cream, smoothies, shakes, cakes and cupcakes just to name some items off their menu. I was pretty excited to try it out being told it was quite comparable to Marble Slab. I went with my girlfriend where we ordered "create your own" type of ice cream. We tried Coffee and Skor as well as French Vanilla and Oreo. To begin, the ice cream is very sweet. I heard from others that they were not able to finish a regular sized "like it" cup and I had the same problem. It wasn't because it was filling but it was because it was too sweet and the selection of ice cream. That being said, I wasn't too impressed with it after comparing it to Marble Slab, but I am more than willing to give it another chance. I will try something different next time I go.

Surprise
I love when I order something, forget that I ordered it and then it comes in the mail and surprises me.This happened yesterday with my little order from Monacle. I received a bracelet, where proceeds were donated to Japan. Ever since the natural disasters in Japan, many clothing brands have been making limited shirts for the effort of helping Japan to both aid Japan and create a goodwill from the consumers point of view.

Nike SB: Janoski
Today I managed to grab a pair of Stefan Janoski's from Momentum Marketplace. As of now they are narrow and tight, but I know they stretch out nicely with the suede and leather especially. Once they are broken in nicely they will be ready to skate. I am really looking forward to using them and am quite excited over the shoes.

Nike SB: Janoski
I have looked into buying some Koston One's which I mentioned at the beginning of the week, but to my surprise they will not be available in those colorways to those in Canada. My second choice was the P-Rod V, but they will not be releasing soon enough. This has led me to my third choice, the Janoski. I have posted about this shoe when I first started hello saskatoon, but never mentioned anything about skating the shoe. The main reason why I have chosen these shoes as my next pair to skate is because of the good feel. I am not expecting great durability, but I am sure it isn't as bad as I think. I will let everyone know what pair I get, but at the moment I would settle for just about any color.

Winning
With all of these Charlie Sheen jokes happening, Saskatoon's Single Second has teamed up to introduce a brand new tee. There is no set release date, but I am sure you will be seeing these very soon. You can now buy this tee at Single Second's website or Momentum Marketplace.

Nike SB: Koston One
In the next month or two you can begin seeing two new Nike SB models, the Koston One and P-Rod 5. I for one have my mind set on the Koston for my next skate shoe. Eric Koston himself is very knowledgeable with the technical aspects of shoes, being one who designs and collects. The shoe looks very simple and is a lot more technical than it looks. The new feature of both the Koston and P-Rod is the Lunarlon sole. This sole can be seen in many of Nike's current runners. I will try to grab a pair of the Supreme (red) and a pair of the blue/gold.

Just a Taste: Fuddruckers
This Sunday morning I went out with the family for some breakfast at Fuddruckers, as usual it was quite busy. We used to go pretty often, it was our regular breakfast joint. The menu isn't too large and prices are quite affordable.I usually go with a Rancher or Denver sandwich with some hash browns. My favorite part of the sandwich is the bun and the condiments bar allows you to customize your meal. I will admit that the picture doesn't look too tasty, but just trust me when I say it is. Imagine in your mind this Denver sandwich for $3.45.

Just a Taste: Tony Roma's
After school today, my dad and I decided to go for lunch but were unsure where to go. After playing around on a the Urbanspoon Blackberry application we finally made a choice, Tony Roma's up at Stonebridge. This was my first time at this location, and it was quite nice. Tony Roma's generally is a more expensive restaurant, but they had a lot of lunch specials on today.
We began with the onion loaf for an appetizer. It is basically fried onions with a bit of batter, served with a barbeque mayonnaise dip. It was good, but very heavy and left me feeling very full. I had a chicken bacon sandwich and my dad had a prime rib sandwich. They were both good, along with the very few fries I was able to eat. I felt the chicken sandwich could have used more sauce though, so I put my coleslaw inside of the sandwich.
Tony Roma's is a good place to eat; in my opinion a better place for lunch.

Primitive Recap
retrospective // Recap from The Great White North on Vimeo.
Last Saturday, we held a launch party for Primitive, and — as this particular location is a skate boutique — it was suiting to have such an outing. (A lot of) Friends and family made it out to support and it was a great night. I was on hand to capture the nights’ atmosphere; Jeremy was surely taking photographs; and Ricky Rock had our ears occupied in a different manner than conversation.
Love to everyone involved: Jenna, coming in to help & for taking it down the next morning.. xo // Geoff, for being a homie // Brennan, for organizing this all // Ryan, helping it happen // Jeremy, “Don’t call me D.. you don’t know me!” // Dallas, you’re the star of the video // Aashna, show your face ma! // Asif & Kent, gotta thank you 2 // Naydene, for smiling // Jamie, dimples times 10 // Jeff, he’ll fire shots // Aristo and Dan, ya’ll were calm(ish) // Lauren, for making it out post-red-cup-party // Jason, I see you // Steve, for STEVE // & Stacy, HEY MON.

Momentum: Red Cup Party
Last night at Momentum Marketplace, we presented the new Spring line of Primitive clothing along with The Hundreds. The event was sponsored by Kokanee, where we were provided beer and Vitamin Water. There was also good music being played by Ricky Rock. Momentum Marketplace being a smaller place, we managed to fit everyone inside comfortably. Some people were even shopping as this was all going down!
Towards the end of the night there was a draw for door prizes that included: Primitive and Nike SB apparel. After the shop was closing up, majority of people took a bus together to go to Scratch. A large group of us went and we definitely enjoyed ourselves. In conclusion the night was great, everyone had a chance to mingle and relax at the shop and party and dance at the club. I managed to talk to old friends, current friends and make new friends.
If you managed to come out last night, thank you for supporting us.

Skate Session
Dallas, Brennan and I spent the night riding. It sure is getting nice outside, but not quite nice enough to skate. We're not disrespectful or rebels, we just like to skateboard.

Just a Taste: Broadway Cafe
Today Dallas and I went for supper at Broadway Cafe, both craving the classic burger and fries. It is a 50's themed diner well known for serving, breakfast, burgers, milkshakes and fries. It is located on Broadway, hence the name. A pretty good location, filled with the shops and bustle of Broadway. Due to this, parking can be hectic at times.
The service was good, the waitress we had today was well mannered and kind. She was patient with me, as the menu provided me a lot of options. After ordering we only had to wait a short time for our food. This was perfect because we were both extremely hungry. All ingredients were fresh; the coleslaw, the fries and especially the vegetables being used.
Dallas ordered a chicken burger, while I ordered a bacon cheeseburger. The food was great, but it seems they shrunk the portion of coleslaw compared to previous experiences. I didn't order a milkshake this time, but I will let you know that it is large enough to serve two (perfect for a date).
